Despite the other added advantages, Vitamin D may help smokers protect against the negative effects smoking causes on the lungs.  Vitamin D deficiency is associated with decreased lung function and rapid decline in lung function amongst smokers.  That is why researchers now suggest that Vitamin D supplementation may have protective properties.no smoking

This does not mean that if you take Vitamin D your body will be immune to the harmful side effects of smoking, but it could possibly (but not definitely) help slightly protect against the harmful side effects of smoking.  The study showed that lung function was better in smokers that supplemented with vitamin D, but it did not say that the lung function was good.

Instead of trying to slow down the effects of smoking it would be better to quit smoking altogether.  This is a very difficult habit to break and quitting starts in your mind.  You have to be willing to quit.  If you are willing to quit, then there is no way a little cigarette can be more powerful than your mind.  It is up to you whether or not you want to smoke, but think about all the negative health factors that come with smoking.
