3 Simple Ways to Reduce Stress

With all that is going on in the world today, it is no wonder that stress is attacking all of us.  Unfortunately, stress has the ability to affect your musculoskeletal system.  This usually manifests as tight muscles, restricted joints, and irritated nerves.  But don’t worry, here are three simple ways to reduce your stress:

  1. Breathe Deeply – shallow breathing causes our body to react in a sympathic nervous system (a fight or flight mentality) which greatly increases the stress on our body
  2. Gratitude – positive thinking helps release endorphins as does being grateful for all of the things that you have. Worrying about what you don’t have will increase stress and decrease relaxation
  3. Laughter – they have always said that laughter is the best medicine. Laughter helps increase circulation, reduce stress, and release endorphins.

There you have it, three simple stress reducing tips.  You can practice these throughout the day, but I highly recommend starting each day with the first two.  Before getting out of bed, take a few deep breaths and think about all the things you are grateful for.  If your house is anything like ours, the laughter part will come throughout the day, and often.
