Quarantine activitiesQuarantine – a restriction on the movement of people and goods which is intended to prevent the spread of disease.

Pandemic – when a new disease for which people do not have immunity spreads around the world beyond expectations.

We are being asked to self-quarantine to help diminish the spread of COVID-19. The coronavirus disease was officially declared a pandemic on March 11, 2020. Instead of arguing, agreeing, or complaining about whether or not we should be implementing a self-quarantine, I suggest we make the best of it.

Minimizing social encounters decreases the chance of spreading COVID-19. Here is a list of things you can do while at home.

Things to do while in self-quarantine:

  • Play a game with the family
  • Have conversations with family – in person or on the phone
  • Spend time outdoors
  • Meditate
  • Exercise
  • Stretch
  • Read a book
  • Binge watch a TV show
  • Movie Marathon (Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Marvel)
  • Learn to play an instrument
  • Finish those house projects you started months ago
  • Learn a foreign language

Fortunately in the digital age, we can still hang out with friends, just not in person. I think it is important for families to use this time to do activities together. After that, you can rejoin friends through our digital mediums.

I feel like the world has been moving faster and faster these days. Kids grow up too quickly and life passes us by in a blink of the eye. We should take advantage of the time when we are forced to slow down. Without the hustle and bustle of running around to stay busy, hopefully we can enjoy the moments as they come.

Happiness is a choice. Choose to make the best of these times. I leave you with a quote from Deepak Chopra, “The highest form of intelligence is being, the highest form of feeling is love, the highest form of thinking is creativity, and the highest form of doing is service”

Peace and Blessings!!
