McDonald’s decided to give its look a makeover. They ditched the old uniforms for new ones. These new ones are supposed to take the “American” look out of them. Here are my thoughts: does it really matter what the employees are wearing, it is still McDonald’s. Most, if not all, of the items sold there are not healthy for you. Let’s take a look at the nutritional content of the Big Mac:
Calories: 576
Fat: 32.5 grams (saturated fat – 12 grams)
Cholesterol – 103 mg
Sodium – 742 mg
Carbohydrates – 38.7 grams
Protein – 31.8 grams
All of this is before you add in your fries and drink. The only healthy items on the menu are the salads and the apple dippers. But the apple dippers are packaged with preservatives so they don’t turn brown and the salads consist mainly of lettuce, which is mostly water. Not to mention most salad dressings have high amounts of sugar and fat. So you may think you are getting 3 servings of vegetables, but you are actually getting three servings of water, with fiber, and sugar. Fast food has very limited nutritional value, so I urge you to stay away as much as possible. Do you want to stay healthy – plan ahead and eat more vegetables!
