Relieving Pain with this drink recipeI was perusing the web this weekend, when I stumbled across a new drink recipe. No, not that kind of drink. This is a healthy drink recipe which supposedly decreases your inflammation. Any drink that boasts pain relieving properties is at least worth a try.

Ingredients:

  • 1 orange
  • 1 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons turmeric powder (or 2” turmeric root)
  • 1 tablespoon ginger powder (or 1” ginger root)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1/4 tablespoon black pepper
  • 2 cups pineapple
  • 2 celery stalks

Peel the lemon, orange, ginger root, and turmeric root. If you want to use ginger and turmeric powder, just add them to the blender. Cut the pineapple by removing the outer layer and the inner core. Then cut the pineapple into chunks and add to the blender along with the rest of the ingredients. Blend all the ingredients well. If you don’t have a blender, you can process the ingredients in a juicer. However, this will result in throwing away all the dietary fiber.

Benefits from This Pain Relieving Drink

Celery posses large amounts of vitamin K. When our body has low vitamin K levels we can experience bone mineralization and abnormal cartilage.

Lemons provide large quantities of vitamins C and E, some of the strongest antioxidants. These two vitamins protect our cells from the adverse effects of free radicals. In addition they help the building of strong connective tissue and collagen.

Pineapple contains bromelain which is very efficient in relieving joint pain. Another one of its properties is alleviating the inflammation induced by arthritis.

Turmeric has been proven to help reduce inflammation. A study published in The Journal of Alternative Complementary Medicine in 2009, brings to our attention that turmeric has an extremely high concentration of curcumin. This ingredient is responsible for relieving knee pain in patients with osteoarthritis, thus improving its function. In addition, turmeric extract has also been proven as efficient in preventing joint deterioration and inflammation.

I will most likely go to the store later today to buy these simple ingredients and give this drink a try. After sitting in the stands Friday night at the high school football game, my back is definitely looking forward to a pain relieving drink. Enjoy, and I hope you have a great week.
